Tools I bring to class to make speaking less scary.

I'm Patrick Dolan. I spent more than twenty years presenting to executives, boardrooms, and rooms full of strangers. These are tools I use in class: one shows how public speaking shows up in the careers you are headed toward, and one helps us find topics for quick speeches so practice stays relaxed and, hopefully, fun.

Your Dream Job Will Make You Speak

A class vote and reveal that connects career fields to public speaking. Pick where you are headed, then see how often that role puts you in front of a room and how much is riding on it.

The One-Minute Speech Picker

A topic finder for quick speeches. Six lanes of prompts to walk through, plus a "Deal me a card" button when you would rather leave it to chance. The goal is easy topics and low pressure.

About Your Instructor

Before the classroom, the boardroom. My career has been built on high-stakes communication, and I teach from that experience.

  • 20+ years of executive presentations and corporate communication
  • Led pitches, briefings, and strategy sessions where the message had to land the first time
  • Taught and mentored through ASU's MedTech ventures program, bringing entrepreneurs and students together

Why I teach. I have been blessed with so many things in my life. If I can take some of what I have learned and help provide others with the tools and experiences that shaped me, I want to do so.

"Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act." Proverbs 3:27 (NIV)

That is the heart of it.

Outside the classroom I'm a husband and dad, which means I have plenty of practice speaking to audiences that talk back.
